Hi, I’m Rachael—a digital designer and karaoke MVP. I've been designing useful things ever since PCs could be found in living rooms. From Sailor Moon fan sites to leading teams at Blizzard Entertainment, Amazon, and Taco Bell, I haven't met anything I couldn't design.
WHAT I DO
Web Design
Immersive gaming websites, esports hubs, real estate portals, marketing sites, career portals, intranet – I do it all. My design philosophy is user-centered: intuitive, accessible experiences that blend form and function, lowering the barrier to entry for all. I love learning and understanding user journeys, collecting meaningful data-driven insights, and crafting responsive interfaces that not only look snazzy but solve problems. Whether it's optimizing conversion rates, improving user engagement, or creating pixel-perfect designs, I bring a strategic and curious approach to every project.
Product Design & Enterprise Applications
From immersive conference room displays to powerful task tracking systems, I specialize in crafting products that make complex workflows feel intuitive. I've designed everything from performance appraisal tools to in-person event surveys, always focusing on turning business requirements into user-friendly solutions. Interfaces shouldn't need a manual. I like to make space for fun elements, too — great design is where functionality meets delight. Streamlining office productivity or making corporate necessities a little more enjoyable, I transform ideas into experiences users actually want to engage with.
Design Systems
Design systems are my current obsession. I'm lucky to have worked on three in varying stages, including one from the ground up. I'm all about living, breathing systems that scale and keep teams in sync. Researching and creating intelligent design tokens, building light but powerful component libraries, writing a LOT of documentation — I enjoy every detail that makes a system hum. How you design for the system is just as important as what. I've written principles that describe the vision and purpose; written governance strategies that keep things moving forward. One of the most exciting efforts has been working between different brand teams, fostering collaboration across sister companies, and watching our design systems grow stronger together. Design systems are so much more than style guides – they're a slept-on tool that turns chaos into cohesion.
E-Commerce
Selling stuff is a complicated landscape, but I believe it can be positive and easy for the seller and shopper. I've led design teams at Battle.net and Amazon.com, where every pixel has to work as hard as a raid boss. Not to brag (or maybe yes to brag?), I've helped millions of customers gear up with safe, secure, and easy to use UX flows. My proudest achievement though is championing accessibility. I spearheaded the initiative that made Battle.net WCAG AA compliant (as well as add A/B testing capabilities). At Amazon I worked on a module that would changed how the entire gaming industry presents accessibility features to players. I also never forget that e-commerce is a global platform. I boosted international payment options for Blizzard players and I always design for a wide range of character counts (Korean and German are good use cases).
Other Talents
If you were thinking "That's cool and all but I bet she isn't that good at karaoke," then you would have assumed incorrectly, friend. Outside of designing, I love to sing, take photos and videos, travel, watch too much TV and anime, listen to kpop and jpop, and eat and drink my way through the latest local picks from Eater and The Infatuation. Explore my Instagram (@junaxp) for mostly cat pics and my favorite photos and videos from walking around.
Blog
Writing is a new adventure but I realized I really want to share things I've learned and things I've made. Other people's blogs have helped me so much over the years, I'd love to be part of the cycle of learning. Find more about my projects and various design topics: Rachael the Designer
